Shockingly 50 % of the young Germans don´t know what the Holocaust was. We made them aware again by confronting them with the most impressive Holocaust memorial of all time: the "Stumbling Stones“, a memorial created by Gunter Demnig in 2004.
Every brass stone stands for a person who was murdered during the Third Reich. Every stone is placed in front of the building from which the person was deported. So far there are 32.000 stones all over Europe.
Instead of bringing young people to the memorial stones, we brought the stones to the people. We let them stumble online. We placed the stones as banners for users to stumble upon. You could find the stones on Google Maps, on street posters and through an iPhone providing further information about the victims. We made the faces behind the stones visible.
